Carl Stevens is a Project & Tooling Manager at W&S Plastics, Sydney.

He holds a Fitting and Machining trade certificate and has completed all the available CNC & CAD CAM programming and modelling courses held at Sydney Ultimo TAFE. Carl has also acquired a Certificate IV in Business studies and a Diploma of Management.

Carl has achieved a 3rd Dan Black Belt  in Taekwondo which he believes has helped him stay focused throughout life.

Carl has been involved in manufacturing injection mould tools since he started working at his father’s Toolmaking firm when he was 15 years old.

Carl continued his employment in the toolmaking trade for 21 years, conceiving, designing and manufacturing injection mould tools for the plastics industry. Carl was amongst the first in the local industry to start using CNC machining and 3D CAM facilities. Carl managed the factory with 20 tradesmen for the last several years at his father’s firm before he then took on a greater challenge at W&S Plastics as a Project Manager in 2011. In 2015 Carl also took on the role as Tooling Manager as Carls experience is vast and now exceeds 28 years in the industry.

Carl works closely with customers advising on tool and product design to enable the manufacture of quality robust injection mould tools that are capable of producing millions of high quality plastic parts consistently, efficiently and with minimised part cost.

Carl manages projects from quotation, through to tool design & manufacture, part qualification and production implementation. He coordinates close interaction of the W&S teams and suppliers, performs the required project tasks to deliver on time and on budget with excellent results every time.

Many of the contractors that Carl manages are based in different countries across Asia and Carl is adept at bridging communication and cultural gaps to ensure that all details of the intricate concepts are communicated accurately.

Carl’s pivotal role in the W&S NPI allows production teams to benefit from his attention to detail and ‘only the best will do’ approach to everything he does.
